Design modification of AWP straightway valves
DN25 to DN100
from a welded fabrication Y-type design
to a cast globe valve design
AWP are replacing as from now, all straightway valves from DN25 to DN100 of the welded fabrication
Y-type design with a globe type cast body design.
This change combines the advantages of precision casting such as reduced manufacturing and machining cycle times which leads to shorter delivery times. Further important advantages of the globe valve design are for example, compliance with the DIN-standards for installation lengths and simplified insulation form.
Valve types affected
- Straightway shut-off valves
- Straightway regulation valves
- Straightway check valves
- Straightway strainers
with the pressure ratings PS25, PS40
Characteristics of selected cast steel and cast stainless steel grades
- The selected cast steel 1.6220 (G20Mn5-QT) and stainless steel 1.4581 (GX5CrNiMoNb19.11.2)
are precision cast in the lost wax process.
- Valve bodies undergo an x-ray inspection plan according to DIN EN 12681.
- Both the steel and stainless steel grades offer excellent welding properties using welding
consumables according to DIN EN 1668 W-424W3SI1, W-446W2Ni2 or acc. to DIN EN 12072
W/G 19.12.3.Nb.
- Kv-values are similar with those of the Y-type valves. Updated information will be presented
in the new ValveCalc calculation program version which will be available from January 2012.
- Material certificates and impact test results are available for the customer.
- Inspections and certification of third parties and standards institutions can be completed
on request.
Schedule
AWP begins now with steel valves DN25 and DN32 and in close succession the other steel vale sizes and the stainless steel valves will follow.
New data sheets
New data sheets can be downloaded here and will be published in our new technical catalogue which is available from January, 2012.
Valves not affected that will remain unchanged are the straightway valves DN6 to DN20 with the globe valve design body made from forged steel and the straightway valves from DN125 with the welded fabrication Y-type design steel body.
